How does it work?
- Find the nearest Swanky Swap™ event here
- Invite all your friends to bring their unwanted but gently loved clothes, purses, jewelry and shoes to the Swanky Swap™. The more women that attend, the better the Swap Event. Don’t worry about sizes; most women have a few sizes hanging in their closet, and plenty of accessories to make it worth everyone’s time. Gather your items, place them in a laundry basket or shopping bag marked with your name and get ready to swap!
- Drop off your items at a set time (usually one hour before the Swap Event starts). Your items will be counted and you will be given a ticket that is good for the same amount of items you brought. If you bring 10 swappable items, you can take 10 items home. The more you bring, the more you take. Only high quality items will be counted, items that do not meet our guidelines will be placed in the donation bin unless you specify otherwise. This keeps our racks full of only the finest items to choose from.
- Come back at the set Swap Event time and get ready to find some great items to update your wardrobe.
- Your Swanky Swap™ hostess will provide a boutique quality Swap Event. We provide all the needed hangers, mirrors, racks and tables. We do all the work, you enjoy the Swap Event.
- At the end o f the Swap Event, Swanky Swap™ will clean up, donate, recycle and up-cycle all the unclaimed goods.
What should I bring to the Swap?
Bring all types of shirts, pants, skirts, dresses, coats, shoes, purses, jewelry, hats, scarves and boots, of any kind and all seasons are welcome. Please make sure that they are clean and gently loved. Bring things that you would be proud to personally hand off to the next girl. Please place jewelry in clear bags (Ziplock or baggies) to make it easy to keep items together. All items will be checked at a quality control table before hitting the floor, so please only bring items that you would give to your very best girlfriends.
What should I not bring to the Swap Event?
Please leave dirty, stained, ripped and outdated fashions at home. Please don’t bring items that are out of style. Make sure zippers and buttons are all working. Also, please make sure that all clothes are clean and free from pet hair. Let’s keep it clean and leave undergarments and swimwear at home.
How should I bring my items to the Swap Event?
Clothes should be freshly laundered and neatly folded. Please place jewelry in clear bags (Ziplock or baggies) to make it easy to keep items together. Shoes do not need to be in a box, just make sure both shoes are in good, clean condition. We have found the best way to transport your items are in a laundry basket clearly labeled with your name or a large shopping tote bag. You can use this basket or bag to hold the items that you are taking from the Swap Event, too.
How will items be displayed at the Swap Event?
We want you to feel as if you are in a boutique setting. Clothes will be neatly hung up on racks according to style. Accessories will also be neatly displayed. There will be no need to dig through piles.
Can I try things on at the Swap Event?
We will have fitting rooms available for you to try on your new threads. There will be mirrors available too! Wearing fitted clothes might alleviate the waiting time for a fitting room.
What if I don’t have much to bring to the Swap Event?
We are quite certain that if you go through all your nooks and crannies, you can come up with plenty of swappable items. Look around: how about those earrings that you no longer wear, or the cocktail dress from last year? Go on, you can find lots of items to bring! A great closet cleaning rule: if you have not worn it in the past 12 months, it’s time for it to go.
How do I know there will be plenty of items to choose from at the Swap Event?
Each Swap Event will have a minimum of 20 people registered. You will receive updates and reminders via email of the event. Please check your email settings to accept emails from contact@eventbrite and info@swankyswap.com. Check your emails daily for updates leading up to the Swap Event.
How do I know that there will be items in my size at the Swap Event?
The best way to ensure that there will be items in your size is to invite all your friends, family and neighbors that are the same size as you! We will be tracking what sizes are coming to this Swap Event here. We strive to have a varied selection of all items to choose from. We hope you find plenty of items in your size, remember this is not limited to just clothing. There will be many great pieces of jewelry, purses, shoes and accessories to choose from also. We bring forward some great items from the last Swap Event to ensure that there is a nice selection before your items are added.
How many items can I take from the Swap Event?
You are welcome to take as many items as you bring. Let’s say you bring 15 swappable items; you get to take 15 items. We will count out your high quality items at the entrance desk and hand you a ticket with your swapping number on it. Only the items that meet our strict criteria will be counted. Clothes need to be clean, in style, neat and ready to wear by the next girl. All items that are not accepted as a Swappable item will go straight to the donation bin and will not count towards the items you are able to take home and will not be displayed. The more you bring to the Swap Event, the more you can take. On the other hand you may bring 10 gently loved items, but only find 2 really great purses that you love. You may not walk out with the exact number of items you brought, but keep an open mind as you may love your new items so much more that it makes up for the difference.
What if I brought 15 items and I can’t find anything at the Swap Event that I want to take home?
We really hope you look around at all the goods offered. We are certain you can find at least one item that you must have. In the event that you can’t find anything to your liking, we ask you to chalk it up to a good time out with friends, an act of donation, a cleaned out closet, fab music, a free drink and try our next Swap. Consider the money spent as a donation to a recycling effort, or to assist with the clean up and donation of the goods. We strive for everyone to leave our Swanky Swap™ Events with as many great items as they like. There will be no refunds.
What are the rules of the Swanky Swap™?
You can find the Golden Rules here. Please be respectful and bring only the clothes that still have lots of life left in them. Be aware that we have strict guidelines to ensure that only the finest items will be set out for you to enjoy. We will only count clothes that meet the above stated guidelines when checking over your items at our quality control table. We reserve the right to reject/refund your registration if you don’t follow the rules stated above. We also reserve the right to ask you to leave if you don’t play nice. Let’s all act like ladies!
What is the Hot Ticket Item Raffle all about?
We have found that there is usually one really awesome item that we think everyone would like. At the first Swap Event, it was this Coach purse. We decided that we would take this Hot Ticket Item and raffle it off to ensure that all the attendees had a fair chance of going home with the coolest item there!
What happens to all of the leftover goods?
Most items will be donated to a local charity. Rest assured, all items will be donated, recycled and up-cycled to make the most of the items.
How much does it cost?
$20 if you pre-register at least one day in advance of the Swap Event, or $30 cash at the door. Please bring the exact amount due. There is no need to bring your registration or ticket, we will have all of your registration information at the registration table.
What if I pre-register online and later realize I can’t make it?
Please send an email to info@swankyswap.com letting us know that you will not be attending so we can open up your space for another attendee.
